Pace Digitek Limited has been awarded a 500 MWh Standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Project by KPTCL under the Developer (Build–Own–Operate) Model.
This landmark award positions Pace Digitek among the early leaders in grid-scale energy storage deployment in India, supporting Karnataka’s power system reliability and renewable energy integration.
This landmark award positions Pace Digitek among the early leaders in grid-scale energy storage deployment in India, supporting Karnataka’s power system reliability and renewable energy integration.
The project involves the development of grid-connected standalone BESS facilities across four strategic locations in Karnataka. It is designed to provide on-demand charging and discharging services to the State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC), enabling peak load management, grid balancing, and enhanced renewable energy absorption.
Under the BOO framework, Pace Digitek will design, finance, develop, own and operate the BESS assets while providing committed grid services to KPTCL over the contract period.
Detailed design and engineering of BESS facilities
Procurement and installation of battery systems
Grid interconnection at designated KPTCL substations
Testing, commissioning, and performance validation
Long-term O&M in compliance with SLDC instructions
Strategic grid asset – Strengthens transmission-level flexibility in Karnataka.
Energy transition enabler – Supports renewable integration and peak demand management.
Policy-aligned – Implemented under Government of India VGF-supported BESS guidelines.
Industry recognition – Demonstrates utility-scale storage delivery capability.
These assets will provide Karnataka’s SLDC with flexible, dispatchable storage capacity that can be aligned with real-time system requirements.
By offering on-demand charging and discharging services, the BESS portfolio will help smoothen demand-supply imbalances, mitigate ramping challenges from renewables, and improve overall grid stability across the KPTCL network.
Pace Digitek is committed to delivering this project with high standards of safety, quality, and cyber-secure operations, full compliance with KPTCL, CERC, KERC, and CEA regulations, and reliable long-term performance supporting Karnataka’s power system needs.
