Project Overview

One of India’s largest utility-scale BESS deployments

This landmark award represents one of the largest utility-scale BESS deployments in India, reinforcing Pace Digitek’s position as a leading developer of advanced energy storage infrastructure.

The project, awarded under a tariff-based competitive bidding framework, is designed to provide on-demand energy storage capacity to MSEDCL, enabling peak load management, grid balancing, and enhanced integration of renewable energy sources. It will be implemented on a Build–Own–Operate (BOO) basis.

Tariff-based BOO framework

Under this model, Pace Digitek will design, finance, build, own and operate the BESS assets, supplying contracted storage services to MSEDCL over the term of the agreement.

Scope & Milestone

From design to long-term BESS operations

Scope of Work

Design and engineering of large-scale BESS facilities
Procurement, installation, and integration of battery systems
Grid connectivity and interconnection at MSEDCL substations
Testing, commissioning, and certification
Long-term O&M in line with SLDC dispatch instructions

Why This Project Is a Major Milestone

National-scale deployment – Among the largest standalone BESS projects in India.
Grid resilience – Strengthens Maharashtra’s peak demand management.
Policy alignment – Fully aligned with Government of India BESS guidelines.
Utility confidence – Demonstrates strong trust from a leading DISCOM.

By providing dispatchable storage capacity at multiple substations, the system will help MSEDCL manage variability, improve reliability and support higher renewable penetration.

Role in Maharashtra’s power system

The BESS portfolio is expected to support peak shaving, renewable firming, and grid support services, contributing to a more resilient and flexible distribution network in Maharashtra.
